Happy Birthday Garrett!!

How can it be that our sweet little baby is 3 already?? Time is just flying by was to quickly. We had yet another fun birthday party planned for the special day. Garrett had decided weeks ago he wanted to have a Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story) theme birthday party, so that's what we did!!

We were so happy this year his actual birthday fell on a Saturday!! We started out in the morning with breakfast, the birthday boy requested Cinnamon Rolls. He even got an extra surprise of a gift!!

The party wasn't to start until 5, so we had alot of stuff to do around the house to get ready. Garrett did great keeping himself busy so Mommy and Daddy could get some work done.

After naptime, it was crunch time! This year I decided to be alittle like Betty Crocker and make cupcakes for the party. Now I must say, I have never made cupcakes before, never decorated cupcakes before...but I was going to try. I didn't have a backup plan so I was really hoping they would turn out! (these are pics from the night before....you will see final pics further down!)

Soon the guest started to arrive!! We had all of Garrett's toys in the yard (looked like we ran a daycare!) and just let the kids have fun! We set up 2 kiddie pools - however they weren't used that much...luckily for us the weather could not have been any better...if it had been hotter the pools may have gotten used more!!

Daddy got to test out his new grill on hotdogs for everyone!! They were yummy :)

It was then time for the moment of truth....the cupcakes!! I decided the let the kids have some fun and decorate their own (with Mom and Dad's help of course!). I think they really enjoyed making mini-masterpieces of their cupcakes....looks like they enjoyed eating them too!!
Singing Happy Birthday

I didn't hear one bad comment about them...so they must have been atleast somewhat good!

Present time was fun...but complete chaos! Unfortunately during this my camera decided to die (I'll blame Kevin for not charging the batteries!).

Overall the party was a success, the birthday boy had a great day, and we were all exhausted by the time it was over!!

Garrett, I don't think you will ever realize how much joy, happiness, and love you have brought us. You are the light of our lives. We are so excited to watch as you grow, learn, and become who you are meant to be. We as your Mommy and Daddy count ourselves blessed to have you in our lives. We love you, G!!!

Day Out with Thomas 2010

Today we took Garrett to Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock NC for "Day Out with Thomas". It's a whole day revolving around Thomas. We got a train ride pulled by Thomas (we actually got 2 b/c the park was alittle slow today with kids still being in school), Garrett got a Thomas tattoo, got to color Thomas pictures, and of course play with Thomas the Trains!! Tweetsie also has other rides to that were included in the day - some of which are pictured. Overall we had a great time and Garrett LOVED it!! We were so happy to have been able to take him.

They tried to lock us up - but decided we were too sweet to keep!! :)

Lovin' on Daddy some before another train ride!

View from the top of the farris wheel. I had Kevin take a picture so I could see the view once my feet were back on solid ground!!! (I put my big girl pants on for Garrett and rode - but HATED every minute of it!)

Riding the go-carts. I called them Lightening McQueen cars (from the movie) and he wanted to ride in the green one because of Chick Hicks. Good thing when it came time to load the green car was the one they were directed to!!

My little cowboy

How do you end a long but fun day??? With a 'nilla milkshake!!...

...and then a nap!!

Ice Pop

Remember the ice pops as a kid? Weren't they the best?!
Garrett enjoyed one today while outside playing!!

Pool Fun

I guess you can still call it "pool fun", even though you don't get in the water......

New Swimsuit

He was alittle self-conscious of his "tummy"

What he didn't realize was that this was going on in the back!! :)

Just a little haircut

Yes, it's true - since being a barber is in my blood (thanks Pepe) - I decided to take Garrett's hair into my own hands last weekend!! I ended up going alittle shorter than I wanted to (long story - won't get into that!) but overall I think he looks cute....and he did GREAT with me cutting his hair. Can you say...savin' some money on haircuts!! :)
With his new short hair, we have started to style it, gel and all! How else would you style a little boys short hair but to give him a fauxhawk!! :) I think he looks adorable and so grown up!!
